Custom cabinets and furniture with over 50 years of experience and a lifelong business of Grove City, Ohio. Owner Donald L. Atkinson started building cabinets and refinishing cabinets in the late 1950's going from door to door, showing people what he could build. In 1973 he became part owner of Grove City Cabinet Company. Don ran and managed the business until 1993 when he decided to go out on his own. Since 1993 we have been D.L. Atkinson, Inc.

A skilled craftsman, who has dedicated himself to his work and the ever changing world of cabinetry design, Don has established a relationship with each of his customers giving trust and friendship and gaining the same in return. He has always been considerate of the needs of our customers and in the cost and design of their cabinets.

We are a small family business and our customers are very important to us, and are the reason that we have a successful business. We treat others the way we wish to be treated, a great rule in any business.

We will work closely with you to make sure every detail is addressed and everything is just how you dreamed it would be. No matter if your job is a whole house full of cabinets or adding one cabinet, we treat all of our customers the same - we treat them like family.

New Custom Made Cabinets

Kitchen Cabinets, Vanities, Entertainment Units, Work Islands, Tables, Closets, Mantles, specialty pieces and anything you can imagine, we can build. Custom cabinets and furniture made from all wood with no flake board used in any construction of the cabinets. Full extension, undermount drawer guides are standard on our drawers. Self closers are also available to make the drawers have a soft close. Soft close on cabinet doors are also available. Flush inset, full overlay and standard overlay hinging are available. All cabinets are built and finished on site at our shop, and all stains and paints are custom mixed for each job. These finishes are one of a kind!

We will make you up a sample of your color and let you take it home to look at it in your home. Colors tend to look different in areas that have a different type of lighting, so it is always better to look at it at home! If the color is not right, then we will adjust it so it is just as you want it! All interiors of the cabinets are finished with the base coat. If you cabinets are stained then they will be stained inside, if the finish is a paint and glaze, then the finish inside will be painted only, glaze is not applied to the inside. All finishes are water based, no polyurethane is used because it will cause the finish to yellow.

Refacing

Refacing cabinets includes making new doors, drawer fronts, new 3/4” fronts and new ends. The 3/4” fronts are attached directly to your old cabinet fronts, since we are attaching them with a strong material, if you have center stile, they can be removed! We then attach the doors and drawer fronts. When all done, you will look as if you got all new cabinets, but at a lot less than new cabinets....and there is no tear out!!! You pick the new style and finish, we take care of the rest!

Refinishing

If your cabinets are in good shape but just need a lift, we can refinish them! We will strip the old stain or paint, clean the cabinets (exteriors only) and refinish them to a new paint or stain color. We can also strip and refinish antiques, existing tables and chairs or anything that needs refinished!

* We can only refinish wood doors or pieces, particle board or MDF cannot be refinished.

Adding Cabinets

Do you need just one cabinet? We can do that to! If you need to add a cabinet to match what is already in your kitchen we will match the door style and finish so that it will look like it has always been there. If you need, we can also cut cabinets down and fix the finish to look as if they were never touched! No job is to small – so whatever you need, we can help.

Pre-Made Cabinets

Legacy pre-made cabinets are a great alternative to Custom Cabinets. If you are looking to save money or are very price conscious, we can help you to keep your costs to a minimum. Pre-made cabinets have doors and fronts that are made of all wood, but do have some particle board inside. The have many different door styles and finishes to choose from.

Appliances / Countertops

We have appliances on display such as Sub Zero, Thermador and KitchenAid. Blanco sinks and faucets that are top mount and undermount. Many, Many countertop samples such as Laminate, Corian, Granite, Zodiaq, Silestone, Cambria, Ceaserstone and much more! We also have a large selection of hardware.
